Navajo Tacos (A.K.A. Indian Tacos)

Fried Bread
3 cups flour
1 T baking powder
1 t salt
1 T dry milk
1 T sugar
about ¾ cup water

Chili Sauce
1 lb ground beef
pinto beans
1 can tomato sauce
chili powder
salt to taste

Toppings
Tomatoes
Lettuce
Cheese
Salsa
Onions


Combine ingredients for fried bread until it makes an elastic dough. Form into large flat rounds and deep fry in lard until golden and crispy. (Getting this just right takes a lot of practice.) Dry on paper towels and keep warm. Combine chili sauce ingredients to taste and spread over fry bread. Top with desired toppings. This is not an exact science. It just takes practice.
