Pound Cake

3 c sugar
1 c butter-flavored shortening or 2 sticks butter or margarine
6 eggs
3 c flour
1 t vanilla
1 t almond flavoring
1 carton whipping cream

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream together sugar and shortening. Add in eggs one at a time. Add flour in small portions. Add vanilla and almond flavorings. Add whipping cream slowly, mixing well with an electric mixer. Pour into a bunt pan, angel food pan or loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15-20 minutes. (This is great with sugared strawberries and whipped cream as a strawberry shortcake.) This freezes well.
